Reckoning (sequel to The Hollows)

Book Two of 'The Hollows' Series.

Winter, 1889.

Jack’s back.

After months in hiding by the seaside while the dust of Percival Fitzwilliam’s death settles, Jack Thomas returns to Brisbane with Louisa, hoping at last to begin the life he fought so hard to claim.

But the colony has a long memory.

Louisa is pregnant, and the child must remain secret while the shadow of her late husband, Percival Fitzwilliam, still looms over the city’s powerful families. While Jack settles into a life of silk sheets and butlers, whispers about the past begin to circulate once more. Fortune seekers begin to circle. Justice seekers come looking for answers. Beyond the city, the diggings begin to stir. From the drawing rooms of Brisbane society to the camps of the goldfields, pressure starts to build, and the fragile life Jack and Louisa have created starts to crack.

Because when the reckoning comes, someone always pays the price.
