City of Earth

Tiziri and her sisters have seized their mother’s throne. But deposing a tyrant was the easy part.

A year later, she governs Numidia – an empire that outlived Rome – and makes peace with the nations her mother invaded. But not all in Numidia wish to see Tiziri succeed – so when neighbouring Alodia begs for soldiers to put down a rebellion in the west, the safest place left for a crown princess is a war.

What waits beyond the Nile is not a rebellion. The villages are empty, the dead pinned to the ground with weapons made of a material no smith can identify. Someone, or something, stalks these lands. Tiziri will soon learn that the price of power is sometimes too high – even for the rulers of Africa’s greatest empire.
