Maeve of the Chalet School

Twelve-year-old Maeve Bettany, youngest girl in her family, has always had a carefree attitude to life. But now, as her eldest sister leaves the Chalet School for the new finishing branch in Switzerland and their mother’s health shows worrying signs, Maeve makes a resolution. She will prove that she is quite capable of looking after herself and behaving sensibly with her friends—whilst still having fun, of course!

The autumn term begins well; Maeve’s ideas provide plenty of entertainment—and a few uncomfortable moments. And then Mollie Bettany becomes seriously ill and Maeve must put all her schemes on hold …

Maeve of the Chalet School is a typical school story, full of humour, heart-warming moments and new adventures among well-known characters. Set in the same term as The Chalet School in the Oberland and Shocks for the Chalet School, it provides a completely fresh perspective on events, and concludes with a touchingly different Christmas celebration alongside all the traditions we love so well.
