Overview
How does the search for a murderer become the search for a reason to live?
Sean Hightower was once a successful rock musician. Now, he’s a bitter, aging one-hit wonder trying to find his way back
to the career he lost.
After a temperamental meltdown on stage, Sean returns to his girlfriend’s condo seeking comfort from the woman he
loves.
Instead, he finds she’s been murdered.
The killer has left two pieces of paper taped above the headboard of the bed. One says, “Hello.” The other, “Goodbye.”
Detective Ray Maldonado recognizes the crime as the latest work of the notorious Beatles Song Murderer, a serial killer
whose crimes are connected to Beatles songs. But there’s a disturbing possibility: the murderer may be someone Sean
knows.
As Sean becomes involved in the investigation, he is forced to question the people around him while confronting his own
grief, regret, and sense of failure.
During this time Sean meets Kayleigh, his ten-year-old neighbor who’s battling cancer. While he feels his best days are
behind him, through her struggles, Kayleigh is hoping for the opposite.
What follows is more than a search for a killer. It’s a story about mystery, music, loss, friendship, redemption, and the
unexpected ways people can give each other a reason to keep going.
For readers who enjoy character-driven mysteries, serial-killer suspense, red herrings, emotional depth, and stories that
continue to unfold beneath the surface, You Say Goodbye offers a mystery with more than one question to answer.
