Because You Were There

How would you feel if you were suddenly rejected by the country you have come to love?

When ten-year-old Tina flies to Britain from her sunny home in Jamaica to join her mother, a nurse, in Bath, she is taken aback. No longer her teacher's star pupil, she is designated to a school for 'educationally subnormal pupils.' She appeals to her teacher (Felicity), who does nothing to help. Decades later, Felicity returns to live in Bath, just as Tina is about to be torn from her family and wrongfully deported. Can Felicity possibly make amends for the hurt that Tina and her little family have suffered in the interim?
