Cursed Lifeline

The Slayer.

It’s been centuries since the first time my eyes have feasted on such a tempting sight.

She’s been expecting me just as much as I’ve anticipated her.

Her happiness is my damned heart’s perilous undertaking.

Her protection was my lost soul’s last dying wish.

The coven doesn’t know our secret.

A curse, with a promising loophole, several centuries old sealed in blood.

Haunted time and again by her imminent, unforeseen death, her soul continues to call to me from beyond the grave.

Beckoning me closer, she tempts me to play life’s game with her.

One. More. Damned. Time.

The only way to keep her safe in her next life is to stay away.

The problem is, her mortal presence makes me yearn to find a way to save her soul, even if it means our cursed love ends with her running a stake through the only thing I long to offer her.
