Turtle Speaks, Hahnunah the Native American Turtle

Hahnunah is a turtle who has become a Nature Heroine.
She uses her voice—and the vivid illustrations on her shell—to share the beauty of the Earth. When the changes in the environment sadden her, Hahnunah expresses her feelings through rich, sensory language that helps readers not just see—but feel—the world’s wonders.

Inspired by Native American Creation stories of Turtle Island, Hahnunah carries the Earth on her back and speaks out in hopes of opening closed eyes to the many natural treasures that must be revered and protected.
