The Barrel Racer (Southern Pine Rodeo #1)

Grumpy boss meets sunshine cowgirl.

When barrel racer Sarah Nolan rolls into Carrington Ranch with a trailer, a shoestring budget, and a mare that can turn on a dime, she is offered thirty days to prove she belongs. Her first test comes a panicked gelding named Storm, a yard full of wary eyes, and a ranch owner who trusts routine more than people. Sarah’s steady hands and soft voice turn chaos into calm, and even William Carrington has to look twice.

William is an ex-roper with a fortress built from grief and responsibility, more comfortable with fence lines at dawn than with the risk of letting someone in. Sarah’s grit, early-morning practices, and clean, blistering runs in the arena chip at his guard, one tight barrel turn at a time.

When a lightning-split sky turns a routine roundup into a fight for safety, Sarah stands shoulder to shoulder with William, proving she is more than a temporary hire. In a town that knows every secret, their slow burn becomes a protect old scars or bet on a partner who rides beside you, in the arena and at home.

Three barrels. One ranch. Two hearts that refuse to run.
