Prologue to Romans

Prologue to Romans introduces “the principal and most excellent part of the New Testament,” Paul’s Epistle to the Romans. William Tyndale draws on the work of his German contemporary, Martin Luther, to give his English readers the doctrinal foundation of the Christian faith as presented by Romans. He summarizes the rich biblical concepts of law, sin, grace, faith, righteousness, flesh, and spirit, followed by a summary of each chapter of the epistle.
