Clues, Chaos, and a Cat (Hazel Merriweather Cozy Mystery, #1)

A cat adoption, a knocked-out volunteer, and a ghost who refuses to stay quiet.

Hazel Merriweather only wanted a cat—and maybe a fresh start—when she stepped into a cluttered coastal animal shelter.

What she finds instead is an unconscious volunteer, a regret-tinged ghost only she can see, and Edgar: a sharp-eyed gray cat who decides Hazel is his person.

When the attack is brushed off as an accident, Hazel realizes there’s more to it than meets the eye. Spurred by the cat and the ghost, she finds the shelter’s staff a maze of secrets.

A conspiracy-obsessed janitor, long feuding with the victim, insists he was the real target. A fast-talking grant writer, shaken and evasive, has every reason to fear what an investigation might uncover.

Add a missing rescue dog, muddy pawprints leading into the coastal fog, hushed conversations, and a box of secrets buried in the sand.

If Hazel and Edgar cannot solve the mystery in time, the shelter will fall, and the secrets of the past will stay buried forever.
