Harmony's Bytes

Harmony's Bytes is a romantic romp through San Francisco's restaurants, bars, and cafes in 2010. Think of a literary version of "When Harry Met Sally", with the expected humor and wordplay, but also featuring Harmony's food reviews (the "Bytes"), strong women like Harmony, Katie, and Nikki negotiating friendships and relationships, secrets, and betrayals. There are physical and mental health challenges, and one LGBTQ+ relationship.

The novel tells the story of Harmony Lewis, who becomes a local sensation with her online brand of bite-sized food and drink reviews. Participating restaurants and cafes begin to crave the vaunted "Approved by Harmony's Bytes" placard with a QR code.

That is how Scott Kasten, a wordsmith and foodie, discovers Harmony's Bytes at a local cafe. He clicks on the QR code, and sees Harmony, the most beautiful woman he has ever laid eyes upon. Harmony and Scott trade emails and eventually date, but Harmony is hiding a secret that could sabotage their relationship and jeopardize Harmony's Bytes entire brand. Harmony's best friends Katie and Nikki try to pick up the pieces with Harmony while negotiating their own relationships, scandals, and foibles.

Readers get intimately connected with the characters because nearly every chapter is told from multiple characters' points of view.
