Embers of Lies (The Wings over Atheos Book 3)

The war for Atheos has reached its breaking point.

Across the continent, the Coalition of Dragons battles desperately against the ruthless True Ones, and every dragon is called to serve. Deep within the lesson caves of Forge Mountain, Gemma feels the pull to do more than train. The Coalition gave her a home when she was lost. Now she is determined to defend it.

But when the Coalition captures a dragon from the enemy ranks that looks uncannily like Gemma, her world begins to unravel around her. The prisoner’s eyes, her markings, even the proud way she holds her wings are like a reflection staring back at her. She is undoubtedly Gemma’s birth mother.

Gemma, raised by humans and adopted by the Coalition, knows more than any other dragon that blood and kinship do not decide loyalty and allegiance. But this dragon’s presence raises questions that she had been repressing. How can they both be pure-blooded Lyrroa dragons when neither resembles the Queens of the Coalition nor the True Ones? Where has she been all these years, and why has she returned now?

As the Coalition prepares for a final, devastating battle, a long-buried secret begins to surface, one guarded by both Queens, and powerful enough to fracture everything the dragons believe about themselves. With Atheos hanging in the balance, Gemma must decide not whether she will stand with the Coalition, but what it truly means to fight for her future.
