Mrs. Papadakis: A Novel of Crete and Choices

“A delight to read from start to finish. Wetzel’s writing is powerful, intelligent, and humorous.”—Kirkus UK

After five years of married life in a Cretan fishing village—milking goats, sidestepping village gossip, and contending with octopus in her refrigerator—American Carolyn Papadakis has begun to question the path she chose.

An unexpected visitor deepens her doubts, and new arrivals from Canada lead Carolyn into reckless choices. The fallout from these events threatens her marriage and forces her to confront what she truly wants.

Full of humor and heart, Mrs. Papadakis paints a vibrant portrait of village life while exploring identity, belonging, and what it means to build a life far from home.
