Mountains and Magic (Witches of Pine Lake #1)

When social worker Amalie Holmes burns out on saving everyone else, the universe hands her an unexpected second chance: a free cottage in the mountains from a great-aunt she’s never met.

What could go wrong?

Turns out, the cottage comes with more than just a roof over her head. It comes with a family legacy she never asked for. Amalie is a witch. And not the cute, candles-and-crystals kind. The kind where lightning strikes when she loses her temper.

Just as she's wrapping her head around magical abilities that didn't come with an instruction manual, an eleven-year-old orphan is accused of murder. Amalie's social worker instincts won't let her walk away, even if it means digging into secrets the town buried for a reason. But the deeper she digs, the more someone seems determined to bury her, too.

With an attractive wizard detective who’s always in her way, a family she never asked for, and magic that seems determined to test her patience, Amalie’s realizing small-town life might be more dangerous than anything she left behind.

Welcome to Pine Lake, where the coffee’s strong, the storms are stronger, and witches don’t always play nice.
