It's 1886, and 'the season' is officially upon the city of Kingshollow. For the next six months, the aristocracy is set to hunt every creature that lurks in the dark and goes bump in the night. It's tradition. It's sport. It's bloody ambition with a side of good manners.

Imogen Halliwell, an up-and-coming socialite with a secret shapeshifting familiar, takes on a contract for a mysterious creature that's already killed every hunter who's come after it. She believes she may have a novel strategy to investigate the beast and seeks out Professor Bryce Arden—a folklore academic with a very convenient expertise in the occult.

Arden, meanwhile, has an agenda of his own. A vengeful pagan god accidentally summoned by a few locals, he's out for blood and relishing despatching every fool who tries to hunt him. Reluctantly, he finds himself willing to make a temporary exception for the charming Miss Halliwell and her intriguing 'pet cat'.

Beyond the Dark & Deadly Woods is a spicy standalone, gothic fantasy with elements of horror and folklore. It features villain MMC x hero FMC pairing, animal companion, and a Victorian gas-lamp setting.
