Hollow Forest (Falling into Darkness)

They say don’t go into the forest after dark.

I should have listened.

I came to this strange little town for revenge, settling into an abandoned cottage nestled in the woods while I hunted my prey. It seemed like the perfect place to hide and avoid unwanted questions.

Then I saw him.

A masked face staring through the window.

At first, I convinced myself I was imagining things. Gifts started to appear around the house. Noises sounded that I couldn’t explain away. Shadows flickered under the trees.

There were stories about the legacy of this town, but no one dared tell the truth. The more I learned about my new home, the more I wondered if I didn’t belong here.

They said the forest was haunted.

I think the real danger had been watching me from the beginning.

And when I finally found myself running through the trees with the masked man behind me, I realize some part of me had always been waiting for him to catch me.

Welcome to the woods. You never know when the hunter might become the prey.
