Overview
Peter Trix is nearing 40, with his marriage in the doldrums and his life in a mess. His sexagenarian boss has fallen for a sultry Russian temptress, and his best friend, Wigan, is keen to blow something up. As for Peter, his epitaph, he feels sure, will be, 'He left this life, having decided to take it no further.'

But Peter wants to take it further and, in a year of mayhem and madness, throws off the shackles that have always held him down. Whether working for the overthrow of HM Government, or searching for casual sex and a woman to beat him up for a fair price, Peter finally goes for broke. Or would, if he could manage to tie up his shoelaces without falling over.

Then there's Sally, his long-lost love, and Janet at work whose sex-life drives him crazy – if only because he’s not part of it. Not to mention a woman he loathes who wants to seduce him, and Mr Tredley Blackett – a private detective whose investigative skills are so poor he would struggle to find the shoes for the laces Peter can’t tie up. As he lurches from one crisis to another, Peter wonders where it will all end. But wherever it does, it’s a year he’ll never forget!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
James Ward is a published mainstream author, having written for children, teenagers and adults. He has also written comedy for TV and radio, both in the UK and mainland Europe. An after-dinner speaker and member of The Magic Circle, James has performed stand-up comedy across Yorkshire and at the Edinburgh Fringe.

He lives in a quiet village in North Yorkshire, where he writes, sleeps and occasionally looks out of the window to see if it's still raining.

Unusually for an author, he has no cats, dogs or small children, though he does have a wife who keeps him on the straight and narrow. (And a secret supply of biscuits she doesn't know about.) (Or didn't until that last sentence.)
