Nine years ago, the author of the book started his great journey into the world of Belarusian rural magic. He intended to make a series of portraits of those who bear the knowledge of most secretive and protected tradition - healing with words. The author wandered from village to village, looking for local magicians, healers, and herb women.
The reader will feel the spirit of journeying and the world of tradition, almost gone now. All the life stories, healing practices, and dialogues are portrayed as they were told by the healers, in the language they use in daily life. The book combines the notes from the expedition and the author's own travel diaries.
