Murder at Maple Lake (Molly Montgomery #1)

A dusty guest ledger. A town full of secrets. And one B&B owner who definitely didn’t sign up for this.

When city-worn Molly Montgomery inherits her aunt’s delightfully shabby bed-and-breakfast on Maple Lake, she expects creaky floors and quirky neighbors—not a decades-old disappearance tucked inside a forgotten guest ledger.

With her pint-sized partner, Mitz the Chihuahua, sniffing out trouble, Molly is swept into a swirl of gossip, grudges, and the death of a local businessman, Harold Finch…a man with far more enemies than friends.

Aunt Mabel’s journals push Molly toward two unsettling leads: Jake, the too-helpful handyman whose connection to Finch is murkier than he lets on, and Betsy, the town historian, who had every reason to keep Finch from exposing a long-buried piece of Maple Lake’s past.

But when break-ins, anonymous warnings, and shadowy watchers close in, whimsical turns dangerous.

If Molly can’t unravel the truth soon, her cozy new life may be the next thing to vanish beneath Maple Lake.
