The Hours of Darkness: A Gervase Fen Short Story
Overview
It's Christmas Eve. At a lovely home in rural England. And the host, Duncan MacAdam, has suggested a game of hide-and-seek to his guests. Can he find each of them? Will they be hiding in the house or spread out across the estate?
Unfortunately, what he and his visitors find is a body. But fortunately, Gervase Fen, that well-known Oxford Professor of English and amateur sleuth, lives only 15 miles away.
This novella, the longest type of short story, has never been published before. A version of it without Fen was broadcast on the BBC in 1949. It's author, Edmund Crispin, lived between 1921 and 1978.
